Anyway, one way to make sure you don't pay for something you don't have to is by seeing if a site offers you a preliminary search. That means you can do a very basic lookup on someone, and get very basic information in return.
You see, here's what you may want to try. Go to Government Records. You see, they let you do a simple lookup. So what you do is, type in the name of the person you want to lookup, and see if they do have a criminal record.
If they don't, then Government Records will tell you. If they do however, they will offer you the choice of getting the full report, or not. It's then really up to you to decide if you want it or not. They don't even hassle you if you prefer not to get it.
